Is
SM-Marks 2 compatible with previous versions of SM-Marks?
SM-Marks is similar to SM-Marks Version 1.0. In appearance, both look
similar and with casual glance you could mistake the new program for
the old.
All the commands from the old SM-Marks are in SM-Marks 2, but the steps
required
to use them are changed in many cases. The changes are to make SM-Marks
2 easier
to use. This means at first you may have to adapt to a new way of doing
things,
but the results will be the same.
In addition to this, the file format for a saved markbook is different.
SM-Marks now saves markbook files with an extension of mk.
SM-Marks 2 can open an old markbook with the smk extension,
but the first time the markbook is saved it will be converted to the
new format. When you do this the old markbook is left unchanged and the
new markbook saves the changes with the new file name.
