What is the cost of getting report templates done for SM-Reports?
Generally, SMPCS supplies all the templates a school needs without any
additional costs over the basic package. This assumes a "reasonable"
number of templates are required. This usually means between 5 and 10
separate templates. If this does not sound like enough consider that in
SM-Reports templates are flexible descriptions of a page. So for
example, a junior template may have variations of what is reported, one
course may require a graph of achievement while another does not and
instead has a letter grade. Similarly variations in the number of
outcomes do not require separate templates.
- What this means is that variations on theme may not require
separate templates, or may only count as a single template.
Also note you do not need to get all templates done initially. You can
delay the production of ones you don't immediately need as your ideas
or requirements may change as you start using SM-Reports.
After the first year of use, or if additional templates are required,
to cover my time there is a cost of $165 (includes GST) for a further
twelve months of template support. i.e. producing and refining any new
or existing templates done during the next 12 months. This covers the
cost of another "reasonable" number of new templates or changes, i.e.
eight or less.
Make your own templates
SM-Reports includes a Template Editor and schools are welcome to edit
or create their own the templates. Some schools develop and maintain
their own set of templates and create new ones from scratch for use in
the school. But note, the Template Editor is very basic and most
schools find it more convenient for SMPCS to produce and alter any
templates.
